Charms, talisman, amulets and symbolic pendants date back to the beginning of adornment’s history and have been a way to wear your beliefs, hopes and dreams close to your heart, turn away evil and bring love, luck, guidance and protection into your life.
Inspired by Mexican mythology where the skull embodies a timeless message of impermanence. The Day of the Dead or Día de Los Muertos is part of Mexican culture where, on November 1st-2nd, people that share this heritage celebrate the dead. It is a vibrant day where the living celebrates those who lived before them and offering prayer and remembrance to them. The day is observed with the creation of altars on the graves of loved ones that include traditional dishes, and family and friends gather to pray for and to remember friends and family members who have died. Throughout history and especially in Victorian times people have been fascinated with the human saga of conquering death, and in the futility of that effort. In Mexico, the skull is a representation of temporariness, transition, and freedom. It symbolizes the liberation of worldly burdens and a past life, now changed, never to return.
