Combining drawing and painting with texturing and patterning and using hammers, stamps and abrasives to create these painterly artisan earrings that capture light, revealing different aspects of color and metal as you move. Made from steel, glass, sterling, 18K, 22K and 24K golds.
This jewelry collection is made using the technique of enameling, which is the process of applying small granules of glass to a metal substrate and firing in a kiln at high temperatures, usually between 1,400 and 1,550 °F. ‘Vitreous enamel’ is a material created by fusing powdered glass to a substrate by firing. The glass melts and when cooled, hardens to a smooth and durable vitreous coating, in this case on steel, copper or fine silver. Depending on the design, the enamel has been etched to a soft matte finish.
