Being under the stars is a magical experience… and inspired this Astra Series necklace that combine drawing and painting with texturing and patterning to show off the unique luminosity of glass. Created with hand drawn designs and multilayered enamel finishes using the centuries old technique of enameling on metal, this enamel pendant is coated with many thin layers of glass and pigment and fused in a kiln at 1500 degrees. The intended result is richly surfaced, artistically expressive and technically innovative contemporary art and jewelry. Majestic and untouchable, it’s no wonder stars have been a constant inspiration for humanity. Validation and guidance from the universe were much sought after by ancient peoples, and omens interpreted from what was observed in the skies affirmed the divine and was the origin of astral myths found in religions across the world.
