Working with metal clay is an exciting way to sculpt and design beautiful three dimensional artworks with gorgeous textures. Precious metal clay was developed in Japan in the early 90’s by metallurgist Masaki Morikawa. The ‘clay’ comes as a powder which is mixed with water as needed to make clay, and comes in gold, silver, copper and bronze, suspended in an organic binder that burns away in a kiln when fired at about 1500 degrees. Here I have mixed the sculpted bronze pieces with gemstones.
