Enamel Pendant Necklace ~ Circle Star Chart | Jenne Rayburn

Enamel Pendant Necklace ~ Circle Star Chart

This eye-catching black, white and gold art jewelry enamel pendant is a small artwork, painted with powdered glass and 23k gold. Formed from steel, and coated with thin layers of glass and gold, it is then fused in a kiln at 1500 degrees; the resulting surface shimmers with eye-catching iridescence and sparkle. Inspired by mythological Star-Charts.

The pendant measures 2 1/4″ W x 2 1/4″ L and is set simply in a thin vermeil frame and held by pointed prongs. It hangs from sterling silver cable chain, with a vermeil chain accent. Finished with a handcrafted S-Hook closure. A stunning, wear-solo necklace that can carry an outfit.

Combining drawing and painting with texturing and patterning, using hammers, stamps and abrasives; this handcrafted pendant necklace moves with intriguing, eye-catching sparkle, revealing different aspects of color and metal as you move. Made from steel, glass, sterling, 18K, 22K and 24K golds.

This jewelry collection is made using the technique of enameling, which is the process of applying small granules of glass to a substrate like metal and firing in a kiln at high temperatures, usually between 1,400 and 1,550 °F. ‘Vitreous enamel’ is a material created by fusing powdered glass to a substrate by firing. The glass melts and when cooled, hardens to a smooth and durable vitreous coating, in this case on steel, copper or fine silver. Depending on the design, the enamel has been etched to a soft matte finish.

About The Enamel Collection

The Enamel Collection includes small and large artworks in glass and metal accented with gold and precious gemstones, using the ancient technique of enameling. Enameling is the process of applying small granules of glass to a metal substrate and firing in a kiln at high temperatures, usually between 1,400 and 1,550 °F. ‘Vitreous enamel’ is a material created by fusing powdered glass to a surface material with heat. The glass melts when fired and when cooled, hardens to a smooth and durable vitreous coating, in this case on steel, copper or fine silver. Depending on the design, the enamel has been etched to a soft matte finish.

Drawn to luminosity, layering and texture, Jenne is intrigued by the centuries old technique of enameling on metal. With perpetual curiosity she continually strives to better her understanding of historical enamel methods to create richly textured, artistically expressive and technically innovative contemporary art and jewelry.

Jewelry Care

To clean your enamel jewelry, you can use a cloth or soft toothbrush with soapy water. Dry the pieces thoroughly with a soft dry cloth.

Remember that your jewelry is made of glass and metal and it may chip or scratch if treated carelessly. Store it in its own box or compartment as not to hit against other pieces of jewelry.
