Handcrafted original Dragonfly earrings. Japan’s historical name Akitsushima means “Island of the Dragonfly,” deriving from the legend in which a dragonfly eats the insect that bites Emperor Jinmu. The dragonfly was then honored as a symbol of happiness and success in Japan. The dragonfly is also an icon of change and harmony as it has survived millions of years of immense evolution. Peacefully existing on land, water, and in the air, the dragonfly guides us to tranquility.
